Being a professional Care Worker is not easy, the hours are sometimes anti-social; weekends, early mornings and late evenings. Home care is particularly demanding; working on your own, with a timetable to keep to and clients relying on you. It doesn’t suit everyone, but Supreme Home Care works hard to appoint and keep staff who can meet these exacting requirements.
Recognising and rewarding staff is part of the working ethos of Supreme Home Care. Clients are encouraged to nominate their regular staff for a ‘Star Award’, in recognition of a job exceptionally well done. This quarter, Abi Earnshaw was chosen for the top award.
Earlier in the year, Abi was nominated by two of her regular clients and the local District Nurses in Newport for her ‘professionalism, diplomacy and for being considerate in the way she delivers care’. This time, she was nominated by a regular client from Tibberton for ‘being absolutely fabulous, caring and charming’. The client reported that; ‘Abi knows what my needs are and doesn’t ask she just gets on and does things for me.She’s a lovely girl and deserves an award. It’s lovely to have her so caring. It’s a delight to have her in the house. She treats me as a person not just part of her job.’
Amy Hutchings, Care Manager for Supreme Home Care said ‘We chose Abi as our top ‘Star’ because the nomination was so discriptive of the care Abi provides and consistent with previous nominations. Abi has been working for us for 3 years now and she clearly treats caring as a vocation rather than just a job. She is only 23 but she has already passed her basic qualification in care and I feel that she has a great career ahead of her.’
Abi received her award at a recent staff meeting.
