Natasha Roberts celebrates her 23rd birthday next month and has already achieved yet another milestone in her career. The week, she has completed her advanced apprenticeship in Health and Social Care. Amy Hutchings, the Registered Care Manager for Supreme Home Care said ‘We are always looking for people with an enthusiasm for care. We spotted this in Natasha when she joined us in August 2014 and she hasn’t disappointed us. Achieving her NVQ3 has been no mean feat’ says Amy ‘as she has done this alongside a full time job and an ‘on-call’ commitment to our clients and staff’.
Natasha said ‘When I was growing up I wanted to be a teacher or a lawyer, anything but a Care Worker. My Mum and aunties all did that. When I needed a job, I thought I’d take a job in Care to tide me over as it would at least pay the bills, but once I started the job I discovered I loved it.’ Natasha explained ‘What I love about being a Care Worker is the satisfaction of knowing you have given someone a bit of dignity, you’ve helped them wash or dress and left them safe, well, and smelling nice. It’s really rewarding’.
Looking towards the future, Natasha says. ‘I started at Supreme Home Care as a Carer, I was given the opportunity to try some part time management as a Relief Senior and I am now a full time Senior Carer, Now I’ve competed my basic management qualification, I am determined to have my managers’ job in the future!’
