Experienced Care Worker, Tina James, knew there was something wrong when she arrived at Mrs Greaves’ house and found her in a state of near collapse. Tina explained ‘I’m Mrs Greaves’ regular carer, so I know her really well. When I arrived, she was clearly unwell so I check her condition and realised what needed to be done. I called 999 and whilst I was waiting for them to arrive, I monitored her condition. I knew if she didn’t improve she would need to go to hospital. Fortunately, by the time the paramedic arrived, Mrs Greaves was beginning to recover.’
Mrs Greaves is now much better, and grateful to Tina for her prompt response. ‘I don’t remember much about that day, but I know if Tina had not had her wits about her, I’d have ended up in hospital’.
Tina was nominated by the Newport District Nurses for a Supreme Home Care ‘Star Award’ and was chosen as the Company’s ‘Star Carer’. Mrs Greaves agrees with the nurses she said ‘Tina is a delight to be with, and I am extremely pleased that she has won this award. She is typical of the standard of care given by Supreme’.
Amy Hutchings, the Registered Care Manager for Supreme Home Care said ‘Every 3 months we reward our staff for the exception job that they do. The District Nurses were so impressed with Tina’s quick actions that they called and nominated her for our top award. We are very proud of her. She deserves to be recognised for what she has done’.
